Jenis-jenis mesin turbocharged
\nAda empat kategori utama:
\n(1) Sistem Supercharger
\nPerangkat yang terpasang pada poros engkol mesin melalui sabuk mesin dan terhubung untuk menerima tenaga dari poros keluaran mesin guna menggerakkan putaran rotor turbocharger, yang kemudian menghembuskan udara bertekanan ke manifold intake.
\nKeuntungan: kecepatan rotor dan putaran mesin saling sejalan, sehingga tidak ada keterlambatan maupun percepatan, dan output tenaga menjadi lebih halus; kelemahan: karena mengonsumsi sebagian tenaga mesin, hal ini akan menyebabkan efisiensi boost menjadi tidak tinggi.

\nPenggunaan gas buang mesin untuk tujuan peningkatan tekanan. Turbocharger yang tidak memiliki kontak mekanis dengan mesin; kompresornya digerakkan oleh turbin yang berputar menggunakan gas buang mesin pembakaran dalam.
